Last Sunset of 2013

I'm here in St. George with the Grandparents, Parents, Aunt, and cousins for New Year's (and my uncle's pending nuptials tomorrow). Not much sketching is getting done, I'm afraid, but ping pong? Yes, that has been attempted— for my first time ever. What a lovely soft sport! There's no running into people or throwing out your drawing arm. Just a light tap on the feather-weight ball will do. It's the perfect recreation for artists. :)

I took some pictures of the sunset tonight with my sisters and cousins. Gorgeous! Absolutely spectacular! There are no better words.

New Piece Teaser

So, I finished that piece, just like I promised. But it may or may not be a Christmas gift, so I won't unveil it just yet. Instead, here is a teaser for it. It's a head study because I love heads!

Inktober… yeah, is it worth finishing?

Here I am at the end of finals three days before Christmas. I guess it's high time I updated again. Yep. About Inktober: For the record, I did finish all the drawings; I just never got around to posting them. Here they are now. Better late than never! I suppose my resolution for the new year will be to repent of my evil non-posting ways.
Heads up, I'm just about done with a vanity project/experiment I've been working on since finals ended last Thursday. I'm not going to post it yet, but I will say that it's big. And it's turquoise. Alright, that's all you get. Cross your fingers, and it should be up by Tuesday!

Plein Air Life Studies

Here are some studies from life I've done in the past little bit. As you can see, I'm still working on figuring out atmospheric perspective. To my credit, I'm beginning to see it everywhere, even if I'm still struggling to record it.

Isn't Utah beautiful?

Plein Air Studies

I've been taking a plein air class this semester, and though I never thought I'd say it, I actually like doing landscapes! It's definitely more difficult than I thought it would be, but it's so worth it. Here's a sampling of some master copies I did:

I Finished Another Sketchbook!

You know that happy moment when you are happily sketching and flip over the page only to realize that there aren't any more pages? Yep, that happened to me today. To celebrate, I thought I'd post some of the highlights of my journey with this sketchbook. We had some good times together. We ran a good race, but now the ship has sailed; the birds have flown; and I've moved on. I'll remember you forever (or for the next ten minutes).
